Silchar: Radhamadhab College marked a significant milestone on Thursday as it conducted the first-ever selection training for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) on its campus. The training, aimed at selecting cadets for the 2025–2026 academic session, included both written and physical components and saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of students.
The training session was conducted by officers and jawans of the 3rd Assam Battalion NCC. Their presence marked the official beginning of NCC activities at the college following its recent approval. On June 3, 2025, the North East Regional NCC Headquarters granted Radhamadhab College the permission to establish an NCC unit, a development that came as a result of the sustained efforts of Principal Dr. Arundhati Dutta Choudhury.
Addressing the cadets-in-making, Lt. Col. Saurabh Chamoli of the 3rd Assam Battalion emphasized the importance of personality development in shaping a student’s future. “NCC plays a crucial role in developing character, discipline, and leadership qualities,” he said.
He encouraged the students to take decisive steps in life, adding, “If we don’t make decisions, we cannot progress.” Reassuring the participants, he noted that NCC training, though disciplined, is not as rigorous as military training and urged students not to fear the process. “We are here to support you,” he affirmed.
The event was also graced by Subedar Major Budhha Magar, CTO Dr. M. Sunny Singh, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Sonali Choudhury, and faculty member Dr. Namrata Nath, along with college Principal Dr. Arundhati Dutta Choudhury, who played a pivotal role in bringing the NCC to the institution.
The establishment of the NCC unit at Radhamadhab College is expected to open new avenues of personality development, discipline, and national service for its students.
