Sribhumi: Tension gripped Sribhumi town on Thursday following an alleged incident of ‘Love Jihad’ involving a local woman and a youth identified as Rahim Uddin.

According to sources, Rahim Uddin had allegedly established a romantic relationship with a woman residing in the Neelmoni Road area. Local residents claimed that he concealed his identity and built an illicit relationship with the woman in her husband’s absence.

The situation escalated when Rahim was reportedly caught red-handed at the woman’s residence. Alerted by neighbours, a group of local residents detained him and informed the police. Law enforcement officials quickly reached the spot and managed to bring the situation under control before it spiraled further.

Senior police officers said an investigation is underway to ascertain the facts of the case and verify the allegations. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked strong reactions from different sections of the local population.

Authorities have urged the public to maintain peace and not resort to any form of vigilantism while the matter is being probed. Security in the area has been tightened to avoid any untoward incidents.
