Pranab Mukherjee, former President breadth his last today. He was fighting for his health in his last days and was in a coma. He fought well as he fought for the country in every role he was entrusted. A spirit of die-hard was visible in his body language, actions and words.

Former President has played a big role in Indian politics for many decades and his personality, vision and works are his legacies. A statesman India lost and an iconic son Bengal had. It would be years when anyone from Bengal can reach his stature in this Century. He will always be remembered as the Chanakya of Indian modern politics who was the centre of Indian politics and the troubleshooter of the grand old party.

As a public figure his oratory skills, his handling of foreign affairs, economy or conduct in the parliament each and every sphere he had shown exemplary leadership that our youth and politician should study. His connection with Northeast India was ample who was the kingmaker of many Chief Minister and governments. His negotiation was tough and severe. In those days he was often compared as the Royal Bengal Tiger.

He hails from the family of freedom fighter where his father  Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee was jailed for ten years during the freedom struggle and this must have made his early years of grooming into Indian politics.

His tenure of Presidency was also eventful and in 2014 saw the emergence of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India and even though he comes from a different ideology, Modi had a special relationship with President Mukherjee and he also reciprocated the same.

Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee was the strong believer of unity in diversity which his socio-political actions reflected be it the present-day MREGA or the GST, any government policy formulated by his intervention had the basic structure of the Indian Constitution. A modern-day politician who understood the fabric of the country no less than the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

He played a very vital role in advising Indira Gandhi, then Prime Minister in the formation of Bangladesh.

After his leaving the office of the President he equally maintained his social outreach be it politically, or through his engagements with the media and other think tanks. He will always be remembered as the Citizen’s President. Indian Political establishment and people will remember him forever,  shall feel the vacuum he created by leaving this world for his heavenly abode. Om Shanti.
