Indore: A proposed 100-bed civil hospital in Indore has remained operational only on paper for the past six years, with construction yet to begin due to unresolved land acquisition issues.

Despite the hospital building not existing, 87 staff positions have already been filled. The appointed personnel are currently working at other government health facilities until the project is completed.

According to the government, the delay has been caused by the unavailability of suitable land for the hospital. Officials have cited persistent land acquisition challenges as the primary reason for the project remaining stalled.

The issue has drawn sharp criticism from opposition leaders, who have questioned how staff appointments were made for a hospital that has not been built. They have demanded a comprehensive investigation into the matter, alleging serious administrative lapses in the implementation of the project.

The prolonged delay has also raised concerns over healthcare infrastructure planning, with residents continuing to wait for the promised hospital six years after it was officially sanctioned.
