Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Chief Minister’s Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan Boosts Women Entrepreneurship Across Assam

Silchar: Assam’s Minister Kaushik Rai on Thursday attended a cheque distribution programme under the Chief Minister’s Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) in the Sonai Assembly constituency of Cachar district, where financial assistance was formally handed over to 13,292 women beneficiaries.

Addressing the gathering, Rai said that the initiative launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma aims to encourage women entrepreneurship and strengthen the economic independence of women across Assam. He noted that the scheme would significantly benefit women by helping them start or expand small livelihood activities.
The programme was attended by Sonai MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, Cachar Zilla Parishad CEO Dorothy Suchiang, Sonai Municipal Board Chairperson Shilu Rani Das, Vice-Chairman Saharul Alam Sheikh, Zilla Parishad member Shahin Ahmed Laskar, Sufian Laskar, along with officials from various departments, party workers and other prominent citizens.
During the event, cheques under the MMUA scheme were distributed among the women beneficiaries of the Sonai constituency as part of the state government’s broader effort to promote women-led enterprises and self-reliance.
