35 vibrant Scouts and Guides in their uniforms with vibrant smiles received Rajya Purashkar from the Governor of Manipur, Miss Anusuiya Uikey on Thursday afternoon.

Governor while addressing the gathering expressed her college days and how she got involved in NSS which has shaped her life. She further expresses such a movement to become stronger and help society in a brighter future.

Education Minister Th. Basanta Kumar also shared his involvement in such a vibrant movement since his early days in school. He has further promised to increase the yearly grant in coming years for Bharat Scouts and Guides, Manipur, and also shared its importance in the society.

Talking to State Chief Commissioner who is a retired IPS officer, Mayanglambam. Sushil Kumar expressed that it’s indeed a need of the hour to involve youths in participating in such activities which will groom them later in the future.

He further shared that such motivation is required to nourish the youths in a positive way.’ Even during this turmoil five months of unrest our scouts and guides, coming all the way from their villages and taking part like this in our camps, giving us all elders that there is still a bright future for all of us where love will surely bring us all together no matter where we are today, but our tomorrow will surely be fruitful’

Tamenglong has been known for its heart and soul participation in such a movement for many years. This time even most of the Boys Scouts and Girls Guides awardees are seen from this beautiful district of Tamenglong.

Talking to some students they shared how they got motivated by their elders and village youths.

One shared, ‘This helped me improve in building my personality, I was earlier very shy now I am just the opposite. Our camps and the beautiful training taught in our camps even during such a turmoil period in our state gave us hope to march ahead.’

State Commisioner Guides, L. Lakshmi (AR)2021 along with State Commisioner Guides 2022, Ksh. Phajaton Chanu was also honoured with the Asia Pacific Leadership Award by the Governor at the event.

What is Rajya Purashkar

Rajya Purashkar, known as the Governor’s Award is believed to be one of the highest awards a Scout and Guide can earn at every State – level on completion of 13 years of age and after being taught by only trained Scouts Master and Guide Captain, who undergoes a State level testing by a team.

Benefits of achieving Rajya Purashkar:

This helps the student gain lots of confidence by facing people through camps. Later one’s own achievement could be showcased as students’ dedication and excellence in Extracurricular activities which later adds a point in job interviews etc.
