4 Rohingyas Deported To Myanmar From Manipur

Police told that these four Rohingya men who entered India illegally in 2013 were convicted under the Foreigners Act and kept at Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa, Imphal east

Four Rohingya Muslim men, arrested in 2013 for illegally entering Churachandpur district of Manipur were officially handed over to Myanmar authorities at Manipur’s border town Moreh on September 10.

The deportation took place at Immigration Office of Myanmar near Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge. After completing the formalities with their Indian counterparts and police officials from Manipur, immigration officials from Tamu in Myanmar took custody of the four men.

The Myanmar officials were Aung Myo Deputy Director of Immigration, along with Top Police Officers of Tamu District where as Moreh Sub-Divisional Police Officer L.  Meghabarna, Immigration officer SI. Tiken and Officer In charge of Moreh Police Station Letkhohao Vaiphei represented the Indian side.

A team of Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB) and officials of Manipur Central Jail escorted the Myanmar nationals from Manipur Central Jail (Sajiwa) in Imphal East District in a bus to Moreh yesterday. 

Police told that these four Rohingya men who entered India illegally in 2013 were convicted under the Foreigners Act and kept at Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa, Imphal east. According to the list of deportees provided by the police at Moreh, two of them are from Buthidaung Mrone District and remaining two of them are from Mungdow Mrone District of Rakhine State, Myanmar.
