NEW DELHI: The Centre has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), 1958, in specified areas of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh for another six months from October 1.
The extensions were notified through separate Gazette notifications issued on September 25 following a review of the law and order situation in the three northeastern states.
Under the orders, AFSPA will continue to remain in force in the notified areas for six months from October 1, unless withdrawn earlier.
