Guwahati: The Asom Gana Parishad on Thursday released its list of 26 candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections 2026, presenting a mix of experienced leaders and grassroots representatives across key constituencies.

Party president Atul Bora will contest from Bokakhat, while senior leader Keshab Mahanta has been fielded from Koliabor. The inclusion of Diptimoyee Choudhury from Bongaigaon highlights the party’s continued push to enhance women’s representation.

The candidate list spans Upper, Lower, and Central Assam, along with the Barak Valley region. Key constituencies include Tezpur, Sivsagar, Barpeta, Goalpara East, Sonai, and Karimganj South, reflecting a broad-based electoral strategy.

AGP has also introduced professionals into its lineup, with candidates like Dr. Tapan Das and Dr. Tara Prasad Das entering the fray. The move indicates the party’s attempt to balance political experience with emerging local leadership.

The announcement signals AGP’s effort to strengthen its regional identity and grassroots connect as it heads into the elections in alliance with larger partners. With the political contest intensifying across Assam, the performance of these candidates will be closely watched in the coming days.
