Arrival of Amur Falcon begins at New Tumbung near Umrangso

Forest officials have prepared the area so that none can disturb the birds

Like every year, this year Amur Falcons, the longest traveled migratory birds have started their arrival at New Tumbung near Umrangso this week.

Amur falcons come each year during the months of October and November to roost at Tumbung village near Umrangso in Dima Hasao, Assam.

With the arrival of Falcon, forest officials like CCF, M Tngnung, DFO, Tuhin Langthasa, and Range Officer Donmai Thaosen made an official visit to the roosting hub to ensure the safety of these migratory birds and the amenities for the tourists and bird lovers. Forest officials have prepared the area so that none can disturb the birds.

Following an awareness campaign by the Forest Officials, NGOs, and locals, no bird is being killed or disturbed during their roosting.

Aiming to create awareness among the people about the conservation of Amur Falcons, the longest traveled migratory birds an annual event named ‘Falcon Festival’ happens every year at Umrangso in Assam. This year Falcon Festival will be organized during the month of December.
