The regional party Autonomous State Demand Committee has nominated Jotson Bey the former Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council for contesting from Diphu Lok Sabha constituency in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

ASDC is the fifth party after the BJP, Congress and APHLC and Gana Suraksha Party to announce its candidate before the formal notification.

While addressing the local media yesterday, mild-mannered Jotson Bey said that if the people give him an opportunity, he will do his best for the implementation of Article 244(A) for creation of Autonomous state.

He criticized the ruling party for its failure in protecting the rights and land of the native people of Karbi Anglong.

He mentioned that his party is committed to the protection of the rights of indigenous people and will persistently keep on doing so. “If I am voted to victory, we will raise the demands for the welfare of the tribal communities inside the parliament,” Bey said. Jotson Bey has remained with ASDC since its commencement.
