NEW DELHI: An Assamese woman lawyer practising in Delhi was allegedly assaulted by a group of people in the Prasad Nagar area on Friday amid an ongoing property dispute, police said.

The lawyer has also filed a complaint alleging molestation. Police said an FIR is being registered based on her complaint.

A cross-FIR has also been registered after the other group lodged a complaint alleging assault.

According to police, the group allegedly questioned why people from the Northeast should come to Delhi for work. The remarks have also become part of the allegations surrounding the incident.

Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the alleged assault and the claims made by both sides.
