Introduces Grading System from Next Academic Year
KRC TIMES Assam Bureau
Guwahati: In a major reform in line with the National Education Policy, the Assam State School Education Board has announced key changes to the High School Leaving Certificate examination system. The new system will come into effect from the next academic year.
ASSEB Chairman Ramesh Chandra Jain said the board will discontinue the practice of declaring toppers or rank holders in HSLC results. Instead, students will be assessed through a grading system.
He said the move aims to reduce academic pressure among students and shift focus towards overall learning and development. The grading system is expected to promote a more balanced approach to education rather than rank-based competition.
The board believes the reform will help create a healthier academic environment and align the state’s evaluation system with national education goals.
