Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his party’s desire to gain 400 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

He justified this by stating that the Congress party could rebuild the Babri Masjid in place of the Ram Temple if the BJP fails to secure 400 LS seats.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing a public rally in Malkangiri, Odisha, stated, “People question our desire for 400 seats. We aim for 400 seats to prevent the Congress from rebuilding the Babri Masjid in the Ram Temple’s place. We must ensure that the Babri Masjid is never reconstructed in India. This is the reason we need to secure more than 400 seats for PM Modi and ensure his continuation as PM. Previously, Congress would ask us about the construction date for the Ram Temple, a question they no longer pose. The Congress understands that our plans extend beyond the Ram Temple and include the liberation of every temple in our country. Our agenda is extensive.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 9 said that the BJP government has been working tirelessly for the upliftment of tribal society.

Stating the government’s belief in the targeted distribution of reservation benefits exclusively to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), Sarma reiterated the party’s unequivocal opposition to any move by the Congress to introduce separate reservation for Muslims.

“The BJP government has been working tirelessly towards the upliftment of tribal societies,” Sarma remarked. “Our government firmly believes that reservation benefits should be directed solely towards the SC/ST/OBC communities. We categorically oppose any move by the Congress or any other party to introduce separate reservations for Muslims.”

The Supreme Court on May 10 granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on certain conditions, prompting reactions from various quarters. Reacting to this decision, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed disapproval, stating, “…No respectable person will accept this bail. What kind of bail is this that you can go but come back on June 2.”

Earlier today, the apex court outlined the conditions for Kejriwal’s interim bail. He is required to furnish bail bonds of Rs. 50,000 along with one surety of the same amount to the satisfaction of the Jail Superintendent. Additionally, he is prohibited from visiting the Office of the Chief Minister and the Delhi Secretariat. The court also stipulated that Kejriwal must refrain from making any comments regarding his role in the present case and must not interact with any witnesses or have access to official files related to the case, unless necessary for obtaining clearance or approval from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court clarified that the grant of interim bail should not be construed as an expression of opinion on the merits of the case or the criminal appeal pending consideration before it. Emphasizing Kejriwal’s position as the Chief Minister of Delhi and a leader of a national party, the court highlighted that while serious accusations have been made, he has not been convicted, lacks criminal antecedents, and poses no threat to society.
