SILCHAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a ‘Jan Jagaran Samavesh’ in Cachar district, drawing over 25,000 supporters to a rally in Silchar. The programme focused on national unity, with party leaders launching sharp attacks on the Congress and its alleged divisive politics.

The event was attended by Assam Minister Kaushik Rai, Rajya Sabha MPs Kanad Purkayastha and Sushmita Dev, Lok Sabha MP Parimal Suklabaidya, MLAs Rajdeep Goala and Rajdeep Roy, Amiyo Kanti Das, along with other BJP leaders and party functionaries. A large rally was also taken out through the streets of Silchar.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Kaushik Rai criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and accused the Congress of pursuing divisive and anti-national politics. He said people across the country continued to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP MLA Rajdeep Goala also targeted the Congress, alleging that Rahul Gandhi’s reported treatment of a senior party colleague reflected his attitude towards others.

Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev challenged the Congress’s claims of widespread public support, pointing to the large turnout at the Silchar rally as evidence of support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Referring to the BJP’s recent rally in Nagaon, Dev also cited the participation of supporters there as a sign of the party’s public backing.

The gathering formed part of the BJP’s political outreach in Assam, with party leaders seeking to strengthen support for the leadership of Modi and Sarma while targeting the Congress over its political approach.
