Gossaigaon: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has imposed stricter regulations on cattle markets in the Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora subdivisions following allegations that cattle are being transported to Bangladesh through markets in the region.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the BTC Executive Council (EC) chaired by Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary on Saturday.

The BTC discussed concerns over the alleged misuse of local cattle markets for transporting cattle across the international border. The council decided to strengthen monitoring and enforce tighter rules to prevent such activities.

The move is aimed at ensuring better regulation of cattle markets and preventing their use for illegal cross-border transportation. Authorities are expected to step up checks and monitoring at markets in the two subdivisions following the BTC’s decision.
