Guwahati: Assam Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using the state as a “laboratory” to test a broader political strategy for the rest of the country. His remarks come in the wake of the party’s recent electoral setback in Assam.
In a statement shared on social media, Gogoi claimed that the BJP’s long-term objective was to push a vision of “one country, one party, one people.” He further alleged that the ruling party relies on “abusing the law, occupying institutions and pressuring citizens” to secure electoral victories.
The Congress MP also signalled a major organisational overhaul within the party in Assam. He said the reset would focus on strengthening grassroots structures, reconnecting with voters, and rebuilding public trust after the defeat.
Gogoi’s comments mark a sharper tone from the Congress leadership in the state, as the party looks to regroup and redefine its strategy ahead of future political battles.
