Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has questioned the Assam government over the alleged removal of a 2022 gazette notification related to the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve from the state government’s official website.

Gogoi alleged that the version uploaded on the government portal was incomplete and did not include 29 pages covering the Panbari wildlife corridor. He claimed that the complete notification was available on the official Kaziranga website.

The Congress MP also questioned why the alleged incomplete notification remained on the government portal for nearly four years and was removed only after the issue was brought to public attention.

Gogoi linked the matter to reports of rare earth element deposits in the area and called for greater transparency from the Assam government.

He also raised concerns over the delay in notifying nine key animal corridors around Kaziranga. In addition, he questioned the government over tourism projects and alleged illegal mining activities in the region.

The allegations have brought fresh attention to wildlife corridor protection and environmental governance around the Kaziranga landscape.
