WCD Department Seeks Immediate Action

Guwahati: The Women and Child Development Department, Assam, has forwarded a complaint under the POSH Act alleging sexual harassment, abuse of authority, and retaliation at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The complaint names Achyut Chandra Baishya, Principal of GMCH, as the accused.
In an official communication to the Medical Education and Research Department, Assam, the Women and Child Development Department has urged authorities to take prompt and appropriate action. The department has specifically called for consideration of immediate suspension of the accused, as highlighted in the complaint.
Sources indicate that the complaint outlines serious allegations and calls for urgent intervention in line with provisions of the POSH Act, which mandates a safe and secure workplace for women.
