Secretary of Environment and Economic Management Association (EEMA), S Radhapiyari clarified today that she has no knowledge or is related in any way to one foreigner Mya Kyay Mon (52 years) daughter of Htunt Nyuntt, an individual holding a Norwegian passport and of Myanmar origin who stayed at the shelter home opened by EEMA.

S Radhapiyari informed media personnel that in February 2023, Mya Kyay Mon was brought to the home by Babloo Loitongbam, a social activist of Manipur along with a lady Burmese Language Professor of Manipur University. While there at the home, she was also visited by some individuals from Churachandpur in a Bolero vehicle and went to visit 16 children who once were her inmates at Central Jail, Sajiwa along with edibles.

The shelter home then requested Babloo Loitongbam to take away Mya Kyay Mon from the shelter home repeatedly, because of her problematic behaviour and loitering around violating the rules of the Home to which Babloo Loitongbam said her papers were being processed and would be removed from the home soon. After the outbreak of the May ethnic clash, Babloo Loitongbam provided the ticket for Mya Kyay Mon one night and she left for the airport the next morning at around 6:00 am.

Radhapiyari clarified that she could not have imagined that this foreigner Mya Kyay Mon, is related to the ethnic clash that erupted on 3 May 2023 and expressed her surprise and shock and added that she came to know about all these after members of Meitei Leepun visited her and enlightened her about it.

It may be mentioned that on August 9, 2022, the 20th Assam Rifles detected Mya Kyay Mon, at Khudengthabi Checkpost. Upon inspection of her passport and documents, it was determined that her passport expired on February 16, 2022, and her e-visa expired on May 21, 2020. It was found that Mya Kyay Mon was illegally staying in India and attempting to cross the checkpoint without valid documentation.

Again, she was detected roaming around in the Imphal Bazar area without any valid Visa or necessary documents on October 23, 2023, by the Police. She has now been kept at Foreigners Detention Centre, Sajiwa since October 25, 2023, pursuant to an order by the Home Department, Government of Manipur
