ARHI Hospital Promises Advanced and Affordable Healthcare for Northeast

Guwahati : ARHI Hospital was officially inaugurated on Thursday at Jorabat, marking a major development in the healthcare sector of Meghalaya and the Northeast region. The new healthcare facility aims to provide advanced medical services, modern treatment options, and affordable healthcare to people across the region.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries from the Centre and the states of Meghalaya and Assam. The event was graced by Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, as the Chief Guest.
Among the distinguished guests were Wailadmiki Shylla, Health and Family Welfare Minister of Meghalaya, who attended as the Guest of Honour, and Sosthenes Sohtun, Minister of Community and Rural Development, General Administration Department and Secretariat Administration Department, Government of Meghalaya.
Also present were Rameswar Teli, Minister for Transformation and Development, Labour Welfare, Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare, Government of Assam; A. L. Hek, MLA, Shillong and Chairman of ARHI Hospital; and Dr. Mahamaya Prasad Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the hospital.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda highlighted the transformation of India’s healthcare sector under the National Health Policy 2017. He said the policy has strengthened the healthcare delivery system at every level, from sub-centres and health and wellness centres in rural areas to advanced tertiary care institutions across the country.
This comprehensive approach has significantly improved access to quality healthcare and enhanced health outcomes for people in both urban and rural regions.

Praising the establishment of ARHI Hospital, Nadda said the institution would bring advanced medical services closer to the people of Meghalaya and neighbouring Northeastern states.
He also reaffirmed the Central Government’s commitment to the development of the Northeast, stating that several initiatives have been undertaken to ensure inclusive growth and better public services across the region.
Hek said it was a remarkable day and a truly significant moment for everyone associated with the project. The inauguration marks the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream and the beginning of a new chapter in healthcare.
He expressed immense pride in the establishment of the hospital, noting that it will serve the people of Meghalaya as well as the wider Northeastern region. With advanced medical facilities and modern healthcare services now available, the region has taken a major step forward towards better treatment and improved healthcare access for all.
