Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh attended the observance as chief guest and president of the function respectively, leading the gathering in paying floral tributes at the memorial.

The ceremony featured a Guard of Honour, General Salute, Reverse Arms, and the sounding of the Last Post, followed by a two-minute silence. Floral tributes were also laid at the statue of Paona Brajabashi, accompanied by a gun salute. Ritual offerings (tarpan) were conducted at the Khongjom River, while dignitaries paid homage through Sankirtana.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla described Khongjom Day as a reminder of the courage and sacrifice of Manipuri warriors who fought against British forces. Referring to the Battle of Khongjom as a symbol of honour and patriotism, he noted that the warriors chose resistance despite being outnumbered and poorly equipped.

Acknowledging ongoing protests across the state, he appealed to the public to avoid actions that could disrupt development or deepen divisions.

The programme commenced with Sankirtana by artistes of the Manipur State Kala Akademi, followed by the national song performed by artistes of Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Music College and the national anthem by the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Band.
