Nishio |  India’s Lovlina Borgohain booked her place in the women’s 75kg boxing final at the 2026 Asian Games after edging past Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bogdanova in a closely fought semifinal. The victory assured the Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist at least a silver medal and a second consecutive Asian Games podium finish.

Lovlina had to recover after Bogdanova took the opening round. The Indian boxer responded strongly in the second, using her reach and combinations to regain control.

The final round was tightly contested, with both boxers exchanging punches until the final bell. Lovlina held on to secure the bout and advance to the gold-medal contest.

The Assam boxer had earlier defeated South Korea’s Seong Suyeon 5-0 in the quarterfinals to secure a medal.

Lovlina, who won silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, will now fight for gold in the final. China’s Bao Ziyi is set to be her opponent in the title bout. Bao won the women’s 75kg gold at the 2026 Asian Boxing Elite Championships.

Lovlina will be looking to improve on her silver-medal finish from the previous Asian Games when she returns to the ring for the final.
