Manipur CM appeals to uproot drug menace from the society

A 34-year-old Kuki identified as Jangkholal Khongsai was nabbed with heroin powder while Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh appealed to the people in general and law enforcement personnel in particular to put their full efforts into uprooting the drug menace from the society.
Meira Paibis (women vigilante groups) of Manipur’s Kakching district handed over one person namely Jangkholal Khongsai (34) of Kangpokpi district along with 2 soap cases of heroin powder. A police report said that a case has been registered and handed over to Pallel Police Station for further investigation.
Jangkholal Khongsai was apprehended along with drugs by village volunteers and handed over to local Meira Paibis of Wabagai Lamkhai of Kakching police on Wednesday.
In the aftermath of the handing over alleged drug trafficker to the police, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, in a statement, said that on the issue of drug abuse and the War on Drugs campaign is not against any individual or community, but to safeguard and protect the present and future generations. He appealed to each and every personnel to put their full efforts into uprooting the drug menace from society. He said surveys are being conducted to identify poppy plantations at different locations even using drones and UAVs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other central leaders are monitoring Manipur closely, he said and further lauded all Central Ministries for their support and cooperation.
