IMPHAL : Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on May 14 attended a programme at Jubilee Hall of Imphal College where one-time financial assistance was distributed to 754 internally displaced college students under the Chief Minister’s College Students Rehabilitation Scheme (CMCSRS).
The financial assistance was transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system in the presence of senior government officials and dignitaries. Speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister said the Manipur government remained committed to ensuring that students displaced by the ongoing crisis in the state do not face disruptions in their education.
“The Government of Manipur remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted education and extending support to displaced students during these challenging times,” Khemchand said.He expressed hope that the financial support would motivate affected students to continue pursuing their academic aspirations with confidence and determination despite the hardships caused by the conflict.
The Chief Minister’s College Students Rehabilitation Scheme was introduced to assist students displaced by the ethnic violence and unrest in Manipur, which has impacted thousands of families and disrupted academic activities across several districts of the state. The initiative is aimed at helping displaced students continue their higher education by easing financial burdens arising from displacement and instability.
