Imphal: The Manipur Petroleum Transporters and Drivers Association has announced that its proposed “Steering Wheel Down Strike” will commence on July 31 after talks failed to produce a concrete solution to the alleged collection of illegal taxes along the Imphal-Jiribam stretch of National Highway-37.

The association said the decision was taken following the lack of satisfactory action on its demands regarding the alleged illegal taxation of petroleum transport vehicles on the highway.

The transporters have urged the authorities to take immediate and effective measures to address the issue, warning that the strike could affect the transportation of petroleum products if the matter remains unresolved.
