IMPHAL | Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur Technical University (MTU), the International Affairs Cell (IAC) successfully organized a specialized orientation session titled “Study and Work in South Korea Orientation” on September 3, 2026, at the MTU AIC Block.

The program aimed to equip students, particularly final-year technical cohorts, with actionable guidance on international academic opportunities, specialized research fellowships, and technical employment pathways in South Korea. The event commenced with a formal welcome address by the Registrar of MTU, Ramananda Nongmeikapam, who expressed gratitude to the visiting delegates and emphasized the university’s steadfast commitment to broadening the global horizons of its students.

Following the welcome address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh delivered an inspiring speech to the attendees. In his address, Prof. Singh highlighted the strategic importance of international exposure in modern engineering education and encouraged students to leverage such platforms to transcend borders and become globally competitive innovators.

The orientation transitioned into insightful sessions led by distinguished delegates and subjectmatter experts. Prof. Hyun Kyung Lee, Visiting Faculty from the Korea Foundation, Department of Foreign Languages, Manipur University, detailed academic admission standards, government-sponsored programs such as the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), and the structural nuances of university life in South Korea.

Complementing this academic overview, Dr. Minjae Park, Operation Personnel at King Sejeong Institute, Imphal under the Korean Cultural Centre India., highlighted workplace culture, visa categories for skilled technical graduates, and the strategic importance of linguistic competency through foundational Korean language certifications. Speaking on the initiative, Dr. L. Iboyaima Singh, Coordinator of the International Affairs Cell, noted that fostering international educational pipelines is central to MTU’s mission.

CoCoordinator Kosygin Leishangthem underscored the cell’s dedication to facilitating institutional ties with premier Korean institutions to unlock continuous professional avenues for MTU graduates. The event concluded with a highly interactive Q&A segment, where students engaged directly with the resource persons regarding application timelines, research grants, industry internships, and post-graduation job markets across South Korea’s rapidly growing technology sector.
