Irritated mob prevented a group of ex- militants belonging to different ethnic militant groups based in Karbi Anglong from establishing a village in a place surrounded by a tea estate close to Assam-Nagaland border March 4.

The area is within the command of Khatkhati Police Station in Karbi Anglong . The mob prevented the occupying group when they were cleaning-up the area, allegedly the mob was prepared with sharp weapons, and engaged them in verbal argument.““A group member of the former militants later told the local media at Lahorijan that they knew the land is within the proximity of the Nirmal Kumar Tea Estate and disputed, where one Pele Kheje of Nagaland and Amphu Engtipi of Diphu are concerned.

The matter was reported to the Khatkhati police station; police arrived on the spot and tackled the situation. The former militants have sought the intervention of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to settle the issue.

The former cadres belonged to the Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger, United Peoples Democratic Solidarity, United People’s Liberation Army, National Democratic Front of Bodoland, All Adivasi National Liberation Army and People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Longri.““Some of the former cadres present during the disagreement included Saka Terang KPLT (R), Mensing Tokbi KPLT (M), Barak Terang (UPDS), Nikonjo Kathar (UPLA), Dipen Basumatary (NDFB), John Bagg (AANLA) etc.
