Health Minister Kaushik Rai has been appointed Chairman

Silchar: The Assam government has constituted a new Governing Body of the Hospital Management Society (HMS) of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMC&H), Silchar.

According to a notification issued by the Medical Education and Research Department, the Governing Body has been constituted under the administrative jurisdiction of Cachar district.
Health Minister Kaushik Rai has been appointed Chairman, while the Cachar District Commissioner will serve as Vice-Chairman. MLAs Rajdeep Goala, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, Kishor Nath and Rajdeep Roy have been included as members.
The Director of Medical Education, Assam, Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of SMC&H, Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar, ADC (Health), and other officials will also serve as members of the body.
The Governing Body will also include representatives from the IMA local branch, Pollution Control Board, APDCL, PWD (B), hospital staff, Cachar Zilla Parishad and municipal bodies. Three Heads of Departments of the medical college will be included on rotation, along with two alumni members.
The notification stated that the new body will oversee the functioning of the Hospital Management Society of SMC&H.
