Imphal: A 27-year-old youth was killed and another sustained critical injuries in a road accident at Wangoi in Manipur during the early hours of Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Thoudem Akash, son of Thoudem Jilla Singh of Mayang Imphal Thana Awang Leikai. The accident occurred at around 1.30 am on Sunday.

According to reports, Akash succumbed to his injuries following the mishap.

The pillion rider, identified as Khuyenthem Borish alias Athoiba (23) of Mayang Imphal Konchak Maning Leikai, was also seriously injured in the accident. He was rushed to Raj Medicity Hospital at North AOC, where he has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His condition is stated to be critical.

Police have registered an FIR at the Wangoi Police Station in connection with the incident. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
