During the interactions, the Union Minister took stock of conditions in the affected areas and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to supporting state governments in their response efforts. He said the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region would continue to work closely with the states to protect lives, strengthen relief operations and expedite the restoration of normalcy.
Among the Northeastern states, Assam remains the worst affected, with floods reported in six districts. In Arunachal Pradesh, continuous heavy rainfall has caused flood-related impacts in 12 of the state’s 28 districts.
Authorities in Sikkim and Manipur have also remained on high alert as adverse weather conditions persist, while Meghalaya is closely monitoring the situation amid continued rainfall.
The Ministry said that Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura are also under close watch to ensure timely intervention if weather conditions deteriorate further.
Several Northeastern states have been grappling with rising river levels, landslides and disruptions to transport and essential services in recent weeks, prompting coordinated disaster response efforts by state administrations and central agencies.
