Silchar : Heartfelt tributes were paid across Silchar on Friday to late Santosh Mohan Dev, former Union Minister and seven-time Member of Parliament, as the region observed his ninth death anniversary. Revered as a stalwart of Indian politics, Dev’s memory continues to inspire generations.
A commemorative event was organised by the Socio-Cultural Educational & Sports Development Trust, a public service initiative founded by Dev himself. Trustee members, including TMC Rajya Sabha MP and his daughter, Sushmita Dev, gathered to honour his enduring legacy.
Prominent citizens such as Santanu Sengupta, Sanjeev Roy, Taimur Raja Chowdhury, and Partha Ranjan Chakraborty were also present at the tribute, recalling his immense contribution to society and public life.
“It is always a matter of pride to be associated with the Trust founded by our great leader, who dedicated his life to the upliftment of society,” remarked a trustee.
The Silchar District Congress Committee also took to social media to pay homage, sharing messages of remembrance and deep respect for Dev’s lifetime of service.
Santosh Mohan Dev, who passed away on August 2, 2017, remains a towering figure in the political history of the Barak Valley. Known for his close connection with the masses, administrative vision, and relentless dedication, his legacy continues to shape public discourse in the region.
