Tezpur University to Set Up High-Level Panel to Review Student Mental Health Support

Tezpur: Tezpur University has announced that it will constitute a high-level committee to review its existing mechanisms for supporting the mental well-being of students following the tragic death of Jyotishman Boruah, a fifth-semester student of the Integrated M.Sc. in Chemistry under the Department of Chemical Sciences.

In a statement, the university expressed deep condolences to Boruah’s family, friends, classmates and members of the university community who are mourning his death.

The university said it is extending necessary support and cooperation to the concerned authorities as per due procedure. At the same time, the university clarified that the exact circumstances of the incident, including any factors that may have contributed to it, have not yet been officially established.

The proposed high-level committee will review the university’s existing systems and mechanisms related to student mental well-being and support.
