44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector Assam Rifles/IGAR(East) organized a security conference at Tamenglong district of Manipur. The event aimed to boost friendship, and synergy and increase security consciousness in the area through people’s participation. It also intended to seek suggestions and ideas on how to improve security in areas for construction workers. Leaders from various Civil Society Organizations took part in the conference.

At the outset Commandant, 44 Assam Rifles welcomed and thanked all the CSO leaders for their role in the transformation of the society as a whole. Civil society organizations occupy an important position in the development dialogue as it provides opportunities to bring communities together for collective action, mobilizing society to articulate demands and voice concerns at the local, regional and national level. In uniting people, to advance shared goals and interests CSOs have been very successful in our area. Commandant also highlighted the present security scenario and coordination aspects with Security Forces and leaders along with the method of exchange of information regarding activities of anti-social elements in the area to thwart their aim to bring peace and prosperity to the area.

The commandant discussed various issues related to security, education, job opportunities, health, social awareness, and govt schemes with the leaders. He also informed everyone present about the various welfare projects undertaken by the battalion in the Zeliard region. A common consensus was made that, it is the duty of both security forces and locals to ensure safety for construction labourers and not let the pace of development in the region mellow down. The leaders appreciated the efforts of 44 Assam Rifles in the area and affirmed their support and commitment in all future aspects. The conclave culminated with the exchange of valuable suggestions and points.
