Assam | Cachar DC appeals citizens for their co-operation

Silchar is one of the populated and important towns of Assam with multiple educational institutions, an important revenue district of the state as well as has a large population. It also connects to states like Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura with Bangladesh border not very far.

Silchar is an important medical, educational, and trading destination of the region. It has one of the oldest railheads of this region from the British era and strategically located. It is also the district headquarter of the Cachar district of Assam.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli appealed to all the citizens for their co-operation and support in the fight against coronavirus.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli who has recently taken charge of the district has taken a slew of measures to ensure that all kinds of lockdown norms are being strictly followed in the district. As part of this, a team comprising additional superintendent of police (headquarter) Jagadish Das and additional superintendent of police (border) Gaurav Agarwal, on Saturday, conducted operations at different areas of Silchar town following the complaint of the existence of roadside markets in the areas.

The administration, as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus, has issued a prohibition on roadside markets.
As per the administration’s directive, the team conducted operations at different areas including Tarapur, Rangirkhari, National Highway, and Hailakandi Road on Saturday after which the markets were removed from the areas. The owners of the markets were warned to not violate the administration’s guidelines henceforth or else stringent action would be taken against them.

Besides, the team checked vehicles across the town to ensure the order on odd-even rule regarding the movement of vehicles is being followed.

Meanwhile, intensive announcements through mobile miking system were also carried out by the technical team of the regional office of information and public relations, The technical team made announcements in different parts of the town to make aware citizens about lockdown-related guidelines.
