A mesmerising dance performance captivated spectators on International Dance Day. The Department of Art and Culture hosted the celebration at Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound in the Imphal East district.

Various forms of Manipur dance were showcased, drawing the attention of onlookers with their stunning presentations.

Deputy Director of Art and Culture, G Dharmadas Sharma, spoke to media on the event's sidelines, highlighting the department's ongoing efforts to raise awareness of performing arts in society through such events.

He emphasised the importance of recognising dance’s strong ties to culture and traditions.

Sharma also noted the state’s ongoing crisis, acknowledging the need for such joyous events to provide temporary relief.

He concluded by sharing that the department has initiated several programmes to promote local artists.
