In his welcome address at the Peace, Unity, and Development rally, Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang termed it a historic day for the people of Karbi Anglong.

 “I am very grateful to the Prime Minister for restoring peace in our troubled district. We are certain that the peace accord signed with your blessings will be privileged by both the State and the Central government and all the projects agreed in the peace accord will be completely realized to fetch development in the autonomous regions” Ronghang said.

He mentioned that Karbi Anglong is the major Sixth Scheduled region of the nation hence requires supplementary funds for its rapid economic growth. He urged the Prime Minister to allow direct financial support from the Central government to the tune of at least Rs 5000 crore every year for balanced growth and expansion of Karbi Anglong. 

The massive rally was attended by Water Resources minister Pijush Hazarika, Hills Areas Development minister Jogen Mohan, president of Assam Pradesh BJP and MLA Bhabesh Kalita, Karbi King Ram Singh Ronghang, Member of Lok Sabha Haren Sing Bey, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dr. Numol Momin, MLAs Bidya Sing Engleng, Dorsing Ronghang and Rupsing Teron beside other dignitaries.
