At a time when development has gained momentum followed by the establishment of peace in the district of Dima Hasao but the lack of workplace culture in government offices at Maibang has become a major cause of concern, people alleged.

Maibang, the capital city of ancient Dimasa Kingdom and a subdivisional HQ is having a number of government departments for the development but runs with very few staff as most of the staff allegedly remain absent on various pleas and excuses.

On Thursday, a group of journalists visited several government offices at Maibang but found a very poor presence of staff in these offices where the absence of work culture was prominent. The journalist group visited Executive Engineer, Irrigation where only four 4 grade employees who were playing ludo and one lady tracer in the office were present. At Executive Engineer PWD office and Executive Engineer PHE found half of the staff were present.

At the office of the BDO, Diyung Valley Development Block, they found the office is empty not a peon or chowkidar was present in the vicinity during the office hours. Interestingly one lady perhaps of Diyung Valley Development Block harassed a journalist over the phone.

Many people of Maibang opined that even after the establishment of peace, the office staffs were reluctant to attend their office as it became a habit and yes, the work culture among the office goers was missing thereby deterring the pace of development. They also said not only the government office staff the public should also be aware of the fact that none can expect development without work culture. Let work culture prevail in Maibang also.
