Manipur | Assam Rifles Celebrates ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’

The event witnessed the exhilarating participation of more than 100 troops of Assam Rifles and 10 local children

Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(S) continued the celebration of Swarnim Vijay Varsh with befitting zeal and fanfare at Churachandpur on 20 October.

The celebration of 50 years of the Victory, “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16, 2020. Four Victory Flames or Swarnim Vijay Mashaal lit from the eternal flame at National War Memorial since then have been travelling across the length and breadth of the country.

The ‘Victory’ celebrations commenced by arrival of Victory Flame in Boat Floatillas on Khuga River surrounded by picturesque mountains and foliage of mighty Thangjing Ridge followed by a 10 km ‘Run for Fit India’ from Khuga Dam to Battalion Headquarter of Khuga Battalion Assam Rifles. The event witnessed the exhilarating participation of more than 100 troops of Assam Rifles and 10 local children.

 A  Tree Plantation Drive at Mata Village in Churachandpur was the next event,  wherein troops of Assam Rifles and locals planted 25 saplings of various varieties. Later, the Victory Flame was kept on display for troops, families, and the local populace at Battalion Headquarters of Khuga Battalion Assam Rifles.

The celebrations for the day concluded with exciting Friendly matches of  Football And Volleyball with local youth clubs. Subsequently, the Victory Flame was escorted back to Battalion Headquarters of Khuga Battalion Assam Rifles.
