PM Modi Holds Bilateral Talks with Putin, Emphasizes India-Russia Strategic Partnership

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, highlighting that India and Russia have “always walked shoulder-to-shoulder” and stressing the importance of their close cooperation for global peace, prosperity, and stability.

The leaders discussed bilateral cooperation in economic, financial, and energy sectors, as well as regional and global issues of mutual concern. PM Modi welcomed recent initiatives toward resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, urging all parties to proceed constructively and restore peace in the region.

President Putin acknowledged India’s role in facilitating dialogue, stating that Moscow “highly values” contributions from India, China, and other partners in pursuing peace in Ukraine. Both leaders reaffirmed the goal of strengthening their special and privileged strategic partnership, with Putin set to visit India in December for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.

Earlier, PM Modi also exchanged views with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the humanitarian dimension of the conflict and India’s support for peaceful resolution efforts.
