Silchar: The BJP Cachar district committee on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Bir Tikendrajit Singh, the ‘Lion of Manipur’, on his martyrdom day. The programme was held at the party’s district office, where party members remembered the courage and supreme sacrifice of the legendary freedom fighter.

On this day in 1891, Bir Tikendrajit Singh embraced martyrdom while defending his motherland from British forces. Speaking on the occasion, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said, “His courage and sacrifice will forever inspire the spirit of patriotism.”

President Rupam Saha, senior BJP leader Nitya Bhushan Dey and other party leaders and workers offered floral tributes and observed a solemn moment of silence in honour of the martyred hero.
