Silchar: In a bid to accelerate holistic development in Barak Valley, Adil Khan, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Assam (Irrigation, Excise, Barak Valley Development Department, and ARRBP), chaired a series of high-level review meetings on Thursday at the DC’s office in Silchar to take stock of major infrastructure projects.
The meeting, attended by senior officials including Cachar DC Mridul Yadav, Sribhumi DC Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi, Hailakandi DC Abhishek Jain, and senior ACS officers, reviewed the Action Taken Report since the last state-level review led by the Chief Secretary.
Projects under review included the Mini Secretariat in Silchar, Cachar District Stadium, the proposed elevated corridor in Silchar’s sinking zone, the new DTO office in Hailakandi, implementation of Asom Mala 1.0 and 2.0, rehabilitation of displaced Doloo families, and the 500-bedded Super Speciality Hospital in Silchar.
Emphasizing accountability, Khan underscored that strict monitoring and timely execution were crucial for ensuring quality outcomes. “These projects are more than physical infrastructure; they are vital for improving the quality of life in Barak Valley. Delays will hamper regional growth,” he said.
Khan also chaired a review-cum-training session on the Assam Roads and Rural Bridges Project (ARRBP), focusing on progress of RCC bridge works. District Commissioners and PWD officials from Barak Valley and Dima Hasao attended the session, aimed at expediting essential connectivity projects.
On Friday, accompanied by Cachar DC Mridul Yadav, Khan inspected the ongoing District Library construction in Silchar. He directed officials to maintain quality standards and ensure timely delivery, noting that the library would emerge as a modern knowledge hub for students, researchers, and residents.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, Khan added, “Every project we monitor is an investment in Barak Valley’s future. Regular follow-ups will ensure benefits reach people without delay.”
