Silchar: Persistent waterlogging in several areas of Silchar after heavy rain has pushed civic groups to press the municipal authorities for action.

On Monday, a delegation led by Debashis Som, representative of Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, and Prosenjit Dev, president of the NGO Janasampreeti, met Municipal Commissioner Srishti Singh and submitted a memorandum on the issue. The team also spoke with Municipal Executive Officer Nabottam Sharma, urging swift measures.

The memorandum called for immediate dredging and cleaning of all city drains, removal of garbage, proper rainwater discharge, and urgent repairs of the sluice gates at Rangirkhal. The delegation also highlighted other civic concerns needing attention.
