Silchar: Assam Minister Kaushik Rai chaired a key review meeting on Monday at Assam Bhawan with senior officials from the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department and the Food Corporation of India.

The meeting looked at the early wrap up of the first phase of the Kharif marketing season. It also reviewed stock positions held by the Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited.
Supply of fortified rice under the nutrition scheme came up for detailed discussion. The release of pending bonus funds and other operational issues were also taken up.
Additional Chief Secretary Srigidanta Das attended the meeting. Officials from the Assam Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, FCI General Manager Manoj Kumar, representatives of NAFED, paddy mill associations and fortified rice kernel producers were present.The discussions focused on streamlining procurement, improving storage readiness and ensuring steady supply in the coming months.
