Jorhat: A doctor and three final-year MBBS students of Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) were allegedly assaulted following a confrontation with a group of local youths on Friday night, triggering tension on the hospital premises.

The injured were identified as Dr Dhiraj Pegu and three medical students, including Abhilesh and Sukumar Das. According to preliminary information, the victims were allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons during the altercation and sustained injuries.

Following the incident, a large number of JMCH hostel residents gathered outside the hospital and demanded action against those allegedly involved in the assault.
