Silchar | Questions have been raised over the quality of a drainage project along Kathal Road in Silchar after a newly constructed concrete wall of a culvert-cum-drain collapsed within 24 hours of the completion of the work, triggering anger among local residents.

The incident occurred between Bank Colony and Laskar Lane. According to local sources, construction of the concrete wall was completed on October 22, but the structure reportedly collapsed by the afternoon of October 23.

Residents have alleged that the collapse points to the possible use of substandard construction materials and inadequate supervision of the work. However, these allegations have not been independently verified, and the reasons behind the collapse remain unclear.

The incident has raised concerns about the quality of public infrastructure projects and the monitoring of construction work in the town.
