Please start governing and stop narrating, people voted to have their stable government…

The election results of the eastern states of West Bengal and Assam were declared on 2nd May and both the states had got a clear mandate. West Bengal is the TMC and in Assam, the BJP is going to retain the government. All well and no worries for the government to take over after an absence of governance due to the election mechanism.

It is a great relief to see that in both the state the mandate is clean and there is no need for any post result arrangements or adjustments. No horse-trading, no political manoeuvring, no changing of bed partners as seen in past elections in many other states. This also indicates that people are very clear about their needs and now understand the value of a stable government.

In West Bengal the process was very smooth, the incumbent Chief Minister took oath in a simple function on 5th May and was seen the next day in action to face the Covid situation in the state. The government is back to business. People have their government!

Whereas in Assam till the late night of the 6th May we are in the dark when the Government will take the oath? Why? Because the elected Government who had gone into the election campaign with the mission of getting 100+ seats (even though they could manage to get much less) are not able to decide on their Chief Ministerial candidate.

Whereas the BJP party’s prime attraction is stability, governance, and ideology. The whole gamut of BJP’s persona is becoming a cliche and the ‘party with a difference’ is losing its flavor.

Time is running out, patience is breaking, common man who voted are becoming restless and concerned. The question is when will the people of Assam get a stable Government and whoever is at the helm of affairs, whether he or she would be able to run the five years smoothly?

The West Bengal CM has started attacking the pandemic whereas the rest of India is busy attacking her for post-poll violence. BJP’s Tathagata Roy had criticised his own party man for election failures of BJP in Bengal, but very conveniently avoided pointing the fact that without a Chief Ministerial candidate BJP went into the election in Bengal, then why should people vote for them? Similarly in Assam, BJP had won the mandate and now suddenly finds itself in a dilemma to make a government without a Chief Minister?

Time to introspect, make a quick decision, and let people of the state have their government so that they can restore their confidence that the government will do its business and on priority fight the pandemic as the Bengal lady has gone into a mission mode irrespective of whatever narrative you may give to wash off your lose in Bengal.

Please start governing and stop narrating, people voted to have their stable government…
