Guwahati : All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has announced a special financial assistance scheme for UPSC aspirants from Assam under which 25 candidates who clear the Civil Services Preliminary Examination will receive a one-time aid of Rs 50,000 each.

The announcement was made by AASU president Utpal Sarma through a video message on Sunday as the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination commenced across the country, including in Assam.

Extending his best wishes to candidates appearing for the examination, Sarma said the initiative was aimed at encouraging more students from Assam to succeed in the prestigious civil services examination and secure positions in the country’s administrative system.

He said the financial assistance would support successful candidates in preparing for the mains examination and personality test by helping them enrol in reputed coaching institutes, purchase test series and attend mock interview sessions.

“Many students require advanced guidance and training after clearing the prelims. Through this initiative, AASU wants to support deserving candidates in their journey towards the civil services,” he said.

According to the student organisation, the scheme has been launched under its special project titled “Pratyahwan”, which focuses on nurturing capable bureaucrats from Assam. Sarma further stated that AASU would continue to play an active role in supporting talented students from the state and helping them compete successfully at the national level.

He also appealed to the people of Assam to extend their cooperation and blessings for the success of the initiative and to ensure greater representation of Assamese youth in the country’s civil services.
