Guwahati: Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) has confirmed that Dr. Saurabh Chandra, Head of the Department of Public Administration, is no longer associated with the institution following a sexual harassment complaint received on June 14.
In an official notification issued on June 16, the university stated that immediately after receiving the complaint, the matter was referred to its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). The committee convened an inquiry meeting on June 15 in accordance with relevant legal provisions and the university’s established policies and procedures.

The university further stated that Dr. Chandra ceased to be an employee of Assam Don Bosco University with effect from June 16, 2026.
The development comes amid growing concern on the university’s Sonapur campus. On June 15, students staged protests after a second-year undergraduate student alleged that the faculty member had subjected her to inappropriate advances and misconduct. Demonstrators demanded swift action against the accused and called for a fair and transparent investigation into the allegations.
In a separate statement, the university reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all members of the campus community. It also emphasized its adherence to due process in handling complaints related to harassment and misconduct.
The matter remains under scrutiny, and further developments are awaited.
