Guwahati: The Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) has detained another person on suspicion of espionage in Guwahati, a day after arresting a former Army personnel from the same locality for allegedly spying for Pakistan.

The detained youth has been identified as Ritesh Kumar Singh, a resident of Begusarai district in Bihar. He was detained from a rented house in Satgaon on Monday.

According to allegations, Ritesh Kumar Singh was in contact with a Pakistani intelligence network known as Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIO) and was allegedly involved in activities linked to espionage.

The latest detention came a day after the STF detained Abhishek Kumar Singh, a former Army personnel from East Champaran district in Bihar, from Satgaon on similar allegations.

The back-to-back detentions have raised concerns over the alleged activities of a Pakistani intelligence network in Guwahati. Further details about the investigation and the nature of the alleged information shared have not been made available in the report.
